ISRAELI SCHOOLCHILDREN BECOME TARGETS FOR TERRORISTS

3,000 ISRAELI POLICEMEN ASSIGNED TO SCHOOLS


Jerusalem----August 23.....Police Commissioner Shlomo Aharonishki said on Wednesday that more than 3,000 policemen will be assigned to protect schools as the academic year nears its start on September 1, YEDIOT AHARONOT ON-LINE reported.

Aharonishki said that while there is no concrete information regarding terrorist threats to schools, the police will invest increased resources to protect students. He also called on Parent-Teacher Associations to aid in setting up local security infrastructures and employing private security guards.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Ministry of Education Ronit Tirosh said that Minister of Education Limor Livnat briefed teachers and principals and instructed them to be alert for suspicious objects and people.

The Iraqi government has upgraded the rates it pays to families of Palestinian suicide bombers, YEDIOT AHARONOT newspaper reported.
Instead of giving families of suicide bombers $10,000, Iraq will now reward families with $15,000. Also, Iraq will pay every Palestinian injured while fighting against Israel $1,000 instead of $500.
