The Kidnapping of Israeli Businessman Elhanan Tannenbaum

Terrorist Acts of Anti-Semitism

Jerusalem----October 16.......The Israel Internet News Agency has learned from the IDF that no Israeli officers are presently missing from active service or have been kidnapped.

Israel and other nations have millions of reserve soldiers registered, but these are not "active" soldiers and they all lead personal and private lives. If a person is not on active service, the military take no responsibilty for them! As such, the kidnapping of an Israeli in Europe by a terrorist organization now adds a new dimension to the Middle-East conflict. It illustrates that no Jew and or American citizen working abroad is safe from the terrorism and barbaric actions of the Hezbollah (Muslim Party of God). It also provides a very clear picture as to who the enemies of world-wide Democratic States are. There are civilized rules to warfare as stated in the Geneva Convention.
A private businessman who has no relationship to military activities is not considered a "soldier", but rather a civilian of that country. The kidnappings of private citizens becomes a direct responsibility of the Department of State (USA) or the Foreign Ministry (Israel) and the International law enforcement community.

Hezbollah has not committed a crime against Israel with the kidnapping of Elhanan Tannenbaum.
Hezbollah has commited a crime against the civilized world community!

Hezbollah secretary-general Said Nasrallah made the kidnap claim during a meeting of Islamic leaders in Beirut, the Lebanese capital. It is believed that Elhanan Tannenbaum was recently abducted in Europe. Unidentified officials were quoted as saying the victim was a 56-year-old businessman taken while working on a deal in Europe and flown to Lebanon. Israeli officials said the kidnapping took place in Switzerland. Swiss federal police spokesman Rolf Debrunner said police were investigating.

We see this purely as an act of anti-semitism, racism - which transcends all national borders and every element of human decency.

Hezbollah and all other terrorist organizations which point their guns, bombs and knives at unarmed civilians will pay a very, very heavy price by the world community and their law enforcement agencies.

Four heavily armed Palestinian terrorists in October 1985 hijacked the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro, carrying more than 400 passengers and crew, off Egypt. The terrorists killed a disabled American Jewish tourist, 69-year-old Leon Klinghoffer, and threw his body overboard with his wheelchair.
